WARNER ROBINS -- With just a day between the semifinal games and Fridays Little League Baseball Southeastern Regional championship, the players for both Georgia and Tennessee were given Thursday off.
Tennessee players were at OCharleys in Centerville, watching the Little League Baseball Midwestern Regional Tournament.
The team from Goodlettsville, which is in only its second year of Little League play, is going up against a Warner Robins league with a history of World Series runs.
If Warner Robins wins, they will do it during the fifth anniversary of when Warner Robins American Little League won the World Series title in 2007. It will be the fourth time in five years Warner Robins has sent a team to the World Series.
The last time Tennessee sent a team to Williamsport, Pa., was 1987.
Still, Goodlettsville should have a pretty decent fan base for the 7 p.m. championship game, league president John Robertson said.
Well keep up with them, he said, referring to the local Warner Robins crowd, which is expected to fill Little League Southeast Park by the hundreds.
For the semifinal game against North Carolina, fans from Goodlettsville came in a bus that included the 11-and-under team that finished second in its regional game last week.
Friday night, Robertson said he is bringing two busloads, plus hes heard from a number of other fans who will be making the roughly 360-mile trek down Interstate 75.
We dont have a whole lot except for baseball, he said of the small town located 16 miles north of Nashville, Tenn.
Tennessee will have all of its pitchers available for the championship game, which will be televised on ESPN.
Georgia will be down two players, Kody Winner and Tee Adams, who are the top two pitchers on the statistics chart from the regional tournament. Both have reached their pitch count limit.
Manager Martin Pinckney said the team will have to rely on some of its other pitchers, such as Leyton Pinckney, who is the probable starter.
In one of the state tournament games against Columbus Northern Little League, Warner Robins used six pitchers, each throwing about 20 pitches each.
