WARNER ROBINS -- Virginia finished pool play as the lone unbeaten team in the field after defeating West Virginia 13-0 at the Little League Baseball Southeastern Regional Tournament on Monday.

Virginia (3-0) won Pool A and will play a semifinal game with Georgia at 6 p.m. on Wednesday. West Virginia remained winless, but it has a chance to break the streak in a consolation game with Florida at 10 a.m. on Tuesday.

Virginia sent 12 batters to the plate in a seven-run second inning. Left fielder Joshua McQuaig delivered a pair of run-scoring singles in the inning. The second came with the bases loaded, scored two and capped the rally. Colton Carton also had a two-run single in the Virginia second.

West Virginia extended its scoreless inning streak to 11.

Carton served as Virginia’s starting pitcher. He yielded just one hit, an infield single to West Virginia’s Dustin Marks, and struck out three in two innings. Jacob Nielsen and Lucas Donlon each pitched as scoreless inning in relief.

Virginia first baseman Kyle Novak hit his third home run of the tournament, a solo shot leading off the top of the fourth inning. The blast sparked a six-run inning that led to Virginia’s mercy-rule run.
