A 1-year-old Crawford County boy, who fell into an above ground pool, died Monday night at The Children’s Hospital at The Medical Center of Central Georgia, according to the Crawford County Sheriff's Office.

Crawford County Sheriff Lewis Walker said deputies were called to a house in the 200 block of Quail Run Road at about 7:20 p.m. Sunday. When they arrived, the boy’s family members were administering CPR.

Investigators spent Monday interviewing family members who were at the house when the boy fell into the pool. The child’s name has not been released, but Walker said the toddler didn’t live at the house with the pool.

“It appears as though he kind of got away from them and out of their sight,” Walker said.

It’s unclear how long the boy was in the pool before family members spotted him, he said.

Walker said the Department of Family and Children Services has been notified of the incident.
