Johnson was named the best player in Macon as a high school senior in 1964 during the Rams’ best season in school history. He would play in the 1965 GHSA All-Star Game in Atlanta. He signed with Florida State, where he would letter three years beginning in 1967. TELEGRAPH ARCHIVES
