Big Mike & the Booty Papas
Friday
Since it came under new ownership, Billys Clubhouse has been making good on its promise to keep the north side of Macon entertained. This weekend, downtown favorites Big Mike & the Booty Papas come to the Billys stage. Their blues and soulful sounds need no introduction. All you need to do is bring your friends and have a good time. Come early and eat some good food, too. Music starts at 9:30 p.m. 21 and up. Free.
Louise Warren
Friday
Louise Warren is full of passion. If I can say nothing else, I can certainly say she loves to play music. However, I can also say she is right now just about the hardest working musician in Macon. She plays more shows than everybody else on the scene. The Opening Act has embraced her with open arms and heres your chance to come out and support a great local artist and a great venue.
Stoopgrass
Friday
Stoopgrass is just a fun band. Plain and simple. If youve heard them, then you already know. If you havent, you need to get on the pony and ride. Matt Moncrief has long been known for playing music that makes the bar atmosphere fun. He adds his Stoopgrass brothers to the mix and it will be, as James Brown would say, a funky good time at the Hummingbird. Music starts at 10 p.m. 21 and up. $5.
House DJ Contest
Saturday
Chasens Lounge is back! They have already started the ball rolling with a few great live music shows and now they are looking for a house DJ. If you have what it takes to get the party started, heres your chance to show them what you got. The more people you bring to cheer you on, the better your chances of landing a regular gig at Chasens. Party starts at 10 p.m. 21 and up. Free. For more information, contact Christina at christinaclaiborne@yahoo.com
The Black Cadillacs
Thursday
The Hummingbird has a thing for bands with Cadillac in their names. Ive seen several Cadillac bands play there over the years and I am excited about this one. This group of young guys from Knoxville, Tenn., has pinned down a bluesy-rock style that sounds like a perfect fit for the Bird. Their lead singer, Will Horton, has the perfect voice for that style. Youll be blown away by this group of young bucks. Music starts at 10 p.m. Free.
