A 57-year-old Macon man has been charged with Tuesday’s robbery of SunTrust Bank on Pio Nono Avenue.

Ricky Jackson of Edwards Avenue was charged with robbery of a business by intimidation and violation of probation, a Macon police news release stated.

“I commend the teamwork of the various units and precincts in our department for the excellent job solving this case so quickly,” Macon police Chief Mike Burns said in the news release. “I’m proud of every officer who had a hand in the arrest. It’s one thing to solve a case, another to do it with the speed we saw today.”

Jackson was being held Tuesday night at the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center. He was arrested at 6:43 p.m. Tuesday, online jail records show.

He is accused of coming into the bank at 12:15 p.m. and handing a teller a note demanding cash, according to an earlier news release.

He did not have a weapon or threaten to use one, but he reached around his waistband several times as though he had a gun, according to the release.

The teller handed over the cash, and Jackson fled on foot down Napier Avenue.
