Drivers should expect traffic delays because of the Iron Man competition at Lake Tobesofkee on Saturday.
The event, including a bike race and a run, is expected to cause detours and delays from 7:30 a.m. through 4 p.m, according to a news release from Middle Georgia REACT, which works with the Bibb County Sheriffs Office to assist in traffic control.
The bike race will cause detours and delays at Moseley Dixon Road, Pineworth Road, Columbus Road, Knoxville Road all the way to Ga. 42, U.S. 80, North Lizella Road, Lower Thomaston Road to Thomaston Road, down to Johnson Road and back to the lake between 7:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.
The run will occur at Moseley Dixon Road to Nowell Road, Lower Thomaston Road to Johnson Road, across to Lamar Road, down to Zebulon Road and back down to Johnson Road and the lake. Delays and detours should be expected between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Moseley Dixon Road at Johnson Road will have delays most of the day, so drivers are advised to avoid that area if possible.
