I started off the day with a 20-ounce breve (espresso with steamed half and half), a lemon poppy seed muffin top and a bacon breakfast taco, sitting in front of a large window and listening to 80s music. Even better, I didnt have to cook any of it or cleanup after myself.
Welcome to Jumpin Bean, an inconspicuous little coffee shop on Russell Parkway in Warner Robins.
Keep a look out for the address; their sign is very hard to see. The décor is comfortable and homey but still professional and clean. My favorite area is in front of the sunny window, where there are four tall tables and a little more privacy.
My breve had a splash of hazelnut syrup added and was hot and delicious. The only thing that could have made it better would have been a real ceramic mug, but thats a lot to ask of a small place with no dishwasher.
Plates would have added to the breakfast experience as well. The muffin tops were great. The lemon poppy seed was my favorite, not too sweet, good for dipping. The blueberry was full of giant berries and the pecan streusel tasted like an old-fashioned coffee cake. The chocolate chip was not as fresh tasting the day we visited, but Im sure it would appeal to folks with a strong sweet tooth. The muffin top idea is a good one, with more of the dunkable part of the muffin and less of the crumbly bottom.
Jumpin Beans signature dish is their breakfast taco, but it looks more like a burrito. Your choice of ham, bacon, sausage or chorizo is combined with potatoes, scrambled eggs, peppers, onions and pico de gallo, all wrapped into a flour tortilla.
Of course, you can combine them differently since it is all made to order and other options may be available by the time this review hits the paper.
For the kids, they offer a frozen lemonade, but we were nonplussed by it. Perhaps if it tasted more like a fresh-squeezed lemonade than a powder, it would be tastier.
The challenge for Jumpin Bean will be finding a customer base that can come during their hours and only eat breakfast or drink coffee.
Entrepreneurs who can work anywhere would enjoy bringing their laptops and iPads here and not having to clean up for meetings. Theres a great area for kids to play with Legos in the back, so even folks with their little ones in tow can find peace and get some work done here.
So head down to Russell Parkway and grab a latte or a breve or even a Café Americano with a muffin top, and get to work!
