The Houston Hospital Authority and Houston Hospitals Board of Trustees of Houston Healthcare approved a donation of up to 10 acres of land to the state Wednesday to be used as the location of a new health care studies center for Middle Georgia Technical College.
The state assembly approved $1 million in its fiscal 2013 budget for the planning and design of the building, which will house Middle Georgia Tech courses in current health care sectors, as well as additional offerings in the future.
Officials hope to receive funding for the construction, which is estimated to cost $16 million, through the states fiscal 2014 budget.
If all goes as planned, the building could be completed as early as 2014.
