Band Spotlight

The Vineyard

Friday

I’ve been seeing a lot more of the Vineyard around town lately. This band prides itself on playing down-home country music. Lead singer Amber Marie Pierce would probably feel right at home sharing the stage with June Carter Cash. For their gig at Roasted Cafe and Lounge, they also have brought along downtown’s favorite trivia guy Will Cowart, who will shed his trivia persona and pick up an acoustic guitar. Music starts at 9 p.m. 18 and up. Free.

Moon Taxi

Friday

Are you the type of music listener who loves to get lost in the arrangement of the music and sounds, but can still appreciate well written lyrics? Well, Nashville’s Moon Taxi’s show at the Hummingbird Stage and Taproom may be your pick for the weekend. This band’s big lush sound provides the perfect soundscape to get lost in. Moon Taxi’s most recent album features a guest appearance by Matishyahu and was mixed by Grammy-winning sound engineer Vance Powell. Music starts at 10 p.m. 21 and up. $5.

Mag Tard and Banditos

Saturday

Mag Tard is a fun band. They get a lot of downtown love so the crowd at Roasted Cafe and Lounge will likely be full of good friends, and is sure to be upbeat and ready to party. Mag Tard’s lead singer, Chris Nylund, just celebrated a birthday, so this show is sure to be a continuation of that celebration. They are joined by Birmingham, Ala.’s Banditos. The Banditos are a bouncy, jangly, folk rock group that will surely get your feet tapping. Music starts at 10 p.m. 18 and up. Free.

Frontier Ruckus and Trendlenberg

Wednesday

The Blue Indian continues to bring creative indie sounds to Macon and this show at the 567 is no exception. Frontier Ruckus has received kudos from Rolling Stone magazine as well as National Public Radio and many others. Their album, “Deadmalls & Nightfalls,” has left a lasting impression on the indie world. Acoustic guitars, a banjo, some well-placed horns, hard working drummer and harmonizing voices makes for some beautiful listening. Music starts at 7:30 p.m. All ages. $8.

Jubee & the Morning After

Thursday

Boulevard Tattoo is hosting a fun night with one of Macon’s favorite bands. Jubee and the Morning After will be at Club Element performing a full set from their high energy catalog. Afterward, DJ Kermit will keep the party going until Element puts everybody out. There will be giveaways from Boulevard Tattoo, Monster, Audio Zoo and more. You don’t have to wait until the weekend to party. Doors open at 10 p.m.
