Chain used to rip doors off store in weekend burglary in Houston County

Published: May 21, 2012

WARNER ROBINS -- Two men used a chain hooked to a white Ford pickup truck to pull off the front doors of the Holiday Food Store at 1130 N. Houston Lake Boulevard early Sunday.

The men stole a safe with an undisclosed amount of cash inside, Houston County sheriff’s Sgt. Joe Middlebrooks said. The incident happened at 2:36 a.m.

A husband and wife headed home and stopped at Dunbar Road and N. Houston Lake Boulevard saw the men in the act, honked at them and shouted that they were going to call police, Middlebrooks said. But that did not phase the men, he said.

“They were bold,” Middlebrooks said.
