Evidence handed off from prosecutors to defense in Lauren Giddings murder case

Published: April 20, 2012

Attorneys representing Stephen McDaniel received a banker’s box filled with papers and a number of discs Friday from Bibb County prosecutors.

The box was handed over as part of the discovery process in which prosecutors share evidence with the defense.

Floyd Buford said he received the box at about 2:30 p.m. Friday and plans to spend the weekend sorting through its contents.

He said he plans to visit McDaniel, 26, in jail Saturday.

McDaniel is accused of the June 2011 murder and dismemberment of his neighbor and Mercer law school classmate Lauren Giddings.
