PERRY -- The owner of Sister-n-Sister Family Home Day Care, where police say a 3-year-old boy left in a car died from stroke, has been indicted on charges of felony murder.

A Houston County grand jury Tuesday also indicted Shelia Henderson on charges of involuntary manslaughter, second-degree cruelty to children and reckless conduct in the July 31, 2011, death of Andrew Leighlan Calloway of Warner Robins.

Calloway died from heat stroke after he was left for an hour in a parked car at the home day care on Georgetown Boulevard in Warner Robins when the outside temperature was 95 degrees, according to police and the indictment.

Greg Bell, a Warner Robins attorney representing Henderson, declined comment.

According to police, the toddler was in the vehicle with Henderson, her sister, Johnnie Mae Grayer, 66, of Macon, and two other children, who had gone out to lunch.

After returning home, Henderson later realized Calloway was not inside her house and went outside to find him unconscious in the locked car. The boy was taken to Houston Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning, the state licensing agency for child care facilities, launched an investigation into the incident. The day care, which is no longer in operation, was not licensed with the state, according to the department.

Henderson, 50, is free on a $20,000 bond pending trial.

Other indictments

The grand jury also indicted 37-year-old Cathy Lynn Sordillo on a charge of attempted murder in the stabbing of her husband March 29 in the public fishing area near the dam at Houston Lake Country Club.

The Bonaire woman was also indicted on charges of aggravated assault and aggravated battery.

Michael Sordillo, 46, was stabbed once in the lip and once in the chest with a folding knife in the 7:30 p.m. incident, authorities said. He was treated and released that night from Houston Medical Center.

The couple were living separately and had agreed to meet in a public place to talk when Cathy Sordillo apparently got upset and stabbed her husband, said Houston County sheriff’s Capt. Robert Clark. She fled and was arrested later that night at her home.

The indictment stated that she “lured” her husband to the meeting.

• Markos Deiondress Jackson, 16, of Warner Robins, and Kahlil Lester, 15, of Hawkinsville, were indicted on charges of armed robbery in a April 4 home invasion in Perry.

The teenagers, who are being tried as adults, were also indicted on charges of aggravated assault, false imprisonment and burglary.

The teenagers are accused of breaking into a Whipple Street home and stealing a silver necklace and shaving kit and robbing a resident with “a silver in color lighter that appeared to be a firearm.”

The two are accused of “pointing it at her head and demanding that she give them money,” the indictment stated.

• Cameron Lewis Brown, 25, of Warner Robins, was indicted on charges of aggravated battery, aggravated assault and third-degree cruelty to children for allegedly shaking a child under the age of 18.

The shaking resulted in cerebral bleeding and retinal hemorrhages, the indictment stated.

• Bacari Champel Colbert, 17, of Warner Robins, was indicted on charges of burglary and aggravated assault in a Jan. 16 home invasion on S. Houston Lake Road in which a Richmond Apartments resident was struck in the head and face with a firearm, the indictment stated.
