Festival to conclude with fireworks

Published: March 23, 2012

There may be no better way to cap the 30th anniversary of the Cherry Blossom Festival than with a spectacular finale event. This year, the Grand Finale will feature live music by the Crankin’ Daddies, a family friendly party band that plays hits from the ’60s all the way through current chart toppers.

“We’ve not had a featured band before, so we’re very excited to have the Crankin’ Daddies,” said Stacy Campbell, director of sales and marketing for the Cherry Blossom Festival.

Held at Wesleyan College, the event also will feature a larger than normal fireworks display, as well as children’s activities including inflatables by Kathy’s Rock. Wesleyan will be selling picnic-style food and beverages, but folks are welcome to bring their own picnics and spread out on blankets.

“It’s just going to be a beautiful event because Wesleyan’s campus is adorned with blooming Yoshinos during the event,” Campbell said. “It’s beautiful, but it’s also free, family fun that you don’t want to miss.”
