Macon Mayor Robert Reichert’s father was buried Tuesday, and his mother died Wednesday morning.

Elizabeth Walton Bowen “Chunk” Reichert, 96, died of natural causes Wednesday morning at Carlyle Place, Bibb County Corner Leon Jones said. She had been married for 75 years to Albert P. Reichert, who died Feb. 16.

“Put the mayor and his family in your prayers,” Jones said. “He really needs our prayers.”

A private burial service is planned. A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday at Vineville United Methodist Church, with the family greeting friends after the service. Hart’s Mortuary and Crematory at the Cupola is in charge of arrangements.
