Former classmates reunite in killer play in Fort Valley

12:00am on Feb 10, 2012

GRANT BLANKENSHIP/THE TELEGRAPH Paul Stoner, played by Jeff Ervin, second from right, gives Harold Bullafarht, played by Brett Copeland, center, a hard time about his claim that one of the high school classmates gathered for their reunion killed another in the murder mystery “How to Kill a Class Reunion” at the Austin Theatre in Fort Valley.

Stereotypes abound at the 30th reunion of the fictional Peachy Valley High School.

From the catty, jealous cheerleader to the former pot smoker, the old classmates are all suspects in Linda Smith’s “How to Kill a Class Reunion” at the Austin Theatre in Fort Valley on Friday and Saturday.

Smith, of Fort Valley, previously has written four murder mystery dinner theater plays to raise money for the Peach Festival. It takes her about two months to get her ideas down on paper.

Most of her actors and actresses add flair to the characters they play.

The humorous “How to Kill a Class Reunion” features all of the former standouts of a typical high school class.

Bambi Van Dyke, played by Michelle Cutler-Ervin, is a former cheerleader jealous of the former squad leader. She prances around the stage in a dress showing off her toned body from the exercise program she peddles.

Cookie Tidwell, played by Ashley Howell, is the former class president of 1982.

“She’s stuck in the ’80s,” Howell said of her character.

Some of the spouses of the characters will be pulled from the audience during the dinner, which will be catered from Donna Mathews Catering. Volunteers will serve the meal, which includes roast beef, garlic mashed potatoes, salad, bread, drink and dessert.
