Resurfacing of more than 12 miles of Ga. 96 is under way in Twiggs County and will take several months, according to news release from the Georgia Department of Transportation.
There are no specific time restrictions for the work, but it is expected to be done between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday with completion expected by Oct. 31, the release stated.
Crews will begin at the Houston-Twiggs line and continue through Tarversville to north of Cranberry Lane.
A pilot vehicle will be leading vehicles through the work zone.
Dykes Grassing Company of Cochran was the low bidder at a little more than $2 million for the project.
