A driving layup by Willie Powers III with 1:40 remaining gave Georgia Southern the lead for good in a 68-65 road win over Western Carolina on Saturday.
Jelani Hewitt led the Eagles (10-12, 8-4 Southern Conference) with 18 points, draining a pair of clutch 3-pointers and grabbing a season-high five steals. Ben Drayton III added 14 points.
Georgia College 56, Georgia Southwestern State 52
Georgia College claimed its fifth straight victory, with Mike Augustine and Ryan Aquino hitting three free throws in the final 15 seconds to seal the win.
Augustine led all scorers with 17 points. Jared Holmes scored 16 points, while Aquino added 10 points and 13 rebounds for Georgia College (13-7, 6-5 Peach Belt Conference).
Middle Georgia 88, East Georgia 87
Brentine Taylor converted a three-point play with eight seconds to go to lift the Warriors to a road win over the Bobcats in Swainsboro.
MGC improved to 16-6, 7-4 in Region XVII.

Wesleyan 40, Agnes Scott 38
Wesleyan picked up its first victory over Agnes Scott since 2002.
Lindsay Haggerty led the Pioneers with 17 points, scoring the game-winning basket and free throw with 31 seconds remaining.
Bre Solmone had 10 points, seven steals and five blocks, while Erinn Williams had 10 points and four assists.

Shanteona Keys scored 18 points and Belinda Schaafsma scored a career-high 11 points in Georgia Colleges home loss.
Georgia Southwestern State had three players score 15 points each to beat Georgia College (4-16, 2-9 Peach Belt Conference).
Middle Georgia 56, East Georgia 45
Four players scored in double figures for Middle Georgia, with Jacquie Williams (nine rebounds), Jazzmin Grove and Brittany Witt (nine rebounds) each scoring 12 points.
JUna Rollins added 10 points and nine rebounds for MGC (15-4, 9-4 Region XVII).
