Authorities across the nation are on alert after two 14-year-old girls were taken from their homes Wednesday night in Monroe and Lamar counties.

Kirsten Kamradt, of Barnesville, and Amber Henry, of High Falls are believed to be in danger due to the psychological condition of one of their abductors, according to a news release from the Lamar County Sheriff's Office.

Joshua Paul Crowe, 19, of Barnesville, and Dustin Blake Elliott, 19, of Upson County may have taken them to either Tennessee or North Carolina, the release stated.

The girls' families are asking the men to bring them to a safe place, such as a hospital or fire station, to be freed.

Authorities plan a 4 p.m. news conference at the Lamar County Sheriff's Office for updates on the case.

Officers from the sheriff's offices in Lamar and Monroe counties, Barnesville Police, the FBI, and U.S. Marshal's Service are involved in the search along with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
