A Macon man missing since the weekend was found dead Tuesday in south Monroe County after two men who knew him led investigators to an abandoned house near where the man was slain.

The two men who knew the victim were then charged with killing him.

Trevorius Thomas, 21, was shot in the back, the apparent victim of a shotgun blast, Monroe Coroner Joey Proctor said.

Thomas, reported missing on Sunday, was last seen on Friday.

Tuesday, two of the Thomas’ acquaintances led Bibb sheriff’s investigators to a stretch of Zebulon Road near the Bibb-Monroe border, about four miles northwest of the Interstate 475 interchange at Zebulon.

The acquaintances, Stephen Lober, 20, and Robert Kyle Dougherty, 21, said they’d dropped Thomas off there a few days ago, Bibb sheriff’s Capt. Mike Smallwood said.

Smallwood said Bibb investigators searched the area and found Thomas’ body.

“Then we learned the house was in Monroe County and turned the investigation over to them,” Smallwood said.

Thomas’ body was lying near the front porch of a house in some woods, 100 yards or so north of Zebulon Road, less than half a mile west of Estes Road.

Lober, of Lizella, and Dougherty, who is from Macon, were later charged with murder and robbery, Monroe County sheriff’s officials said.
