A 56-year-old Gray woman has been sentenced to eight years in federal prison for her role in making videos of an 8-year-old girl engaging in sex acts.

Laura Culver pleaded guilty to one count of production of child pornography April 2, 2009, and was sentenced Monday in Bridgeport, Conn., according to a news release. Culver also must serve three years on supervised release.

Culver, formerly of Connecticut, conspired with 55-year-old Edgardo Sensi to record the girl as Culver and Sensi engaged in sex acts with her in 2001 and 2002, the release said.

On a video, Culver and Sensi can be heard asking the girl whether she’s told anyone about the sex acts and telling her not to tell anyone, according to a sentencing memorandum that prosecutors filed in Sensi’s case.

Culver was arrested Oct. 3, 2008, and has remained in custody.

Federal prosecutors have asked that Sensi be sentenced to 85 years in prison during a hearing scheduled for Tuesday, according to federal court records.

Sensi has pleaded guilty to producing child pornography not just with Culver, but with a woman in Nicaragua and her 4-year-old daughter, according to court records.

The case was investigated by several federal, state and local law enforcement agencies, including the Jones County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
