Some Blockbuster stores in Middle Georgia will be closing, managers at the video rental outlets said Monday.

The Macon stores at 5932 Zebulon Road and 4319 Hartley Bridge Road are closing, but the store at 886 Pierce Ave. will remain open. In Warner Robins, the store at 211 Russell Parkway will close, and the 2907 Watson Blvd. location will remain open.

Dates for the closures have not yet been announced.

Dish Network Corp., which purchased the struggling chain last July for $320 million, said then it was going to close about 10 percent of its Blockbuster stores, keeping 1,500 open and retaining 15,000 employees, according to a Reuters news story.

A couple of weeks ago, however, Dish Network Chief Executive Joe Clayton said the company would be closing more stores than originally announced, according to the Reuters story.
