Montezuma police arrested a man on multiple charges after he was stopped Tuesday afternoon for a routine traffic stop, according to a police news release.

The news release said police arrested Curtis James Holmes Jr., 32, of Fort Valley, after pulling him over for allegedly violating a noise ordinance. During the stop, Holmes was found to have three offenses for driving on a suspended license. Officers also noticed a large bag containing marijuana. As officers searched Holmes, they found a bag of cocaine and a large sum of cash, which turned out to be $2,000 in counterfeit bills.

Holmes was charged with 58 counts of forgery, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, crossing guard lines with drugs without the consent of the warden, driving while license suspended or revoked, loud music, possession of a drug-related object, parole violation and probation violation.

He was taken to the Macon County jail.
