Here's the list of 2012 Oscar nominations, which I leave you to peruse at your leisure:

Probably the biggest surprise omission, at least for me, was Michael Fassbender missing out on a Best Actor nod. It's hard to think of an actor who had a better year, given his critical acclaim in "Shame" and "A Dangerous Method" and his commercial appeal in "X-Men: First Class."
Personally, I was also disappointed not to see the final Harry Potter flick, "Deathly Hallows, Part 2" skipped over in the main categories. Certainly, the finale was as good as anything in the whole series, and a nomination would have been a nice tip of the cap to one of the best overall series in movie history.
Other than that, not too many surprises or omissions.
TUESDAY'S BEST BETS: With the State of the Union tonight, not too much else going on with the networks.
However, cable is all-new with USA's "White Collar," FX's "Justified," and TNT's "Southland," all at 10 p.m.
