ATHENS - The UGA police have released the incident report on Saturday's arrest of Georgia cornerback Sanders Commings. There aren't any major new revelations, but here's what stands out:
- There were no visible injuries on the 23-year-old woman, who is Commings' live-in girlfriend. But the investigation resulted in "probable cause to believe" she had been the victim of simple battery (family violence), which is a misdemeanor.
- Alcohol was involved, although it's not clear by whom. The family violence incident report only indicates that alcohol was used by either Commings, who is 21, or his girlfriend, who is also a UGA student.
- The incident report also says there were "1-5" previous complaints by the victim ... but again, it doesn't specify anything else.
- The report says that while the incident between Commings and his girlfriend occurred in downtown Athens, the police made contact with the witnesses and the girlfriend a short time later while driving. The police officer states: "I made contact with the driver who stated that she was trying to get our attention because one of her passengers was just involved in a domestic incident. I made contact with the victim in the backseat of the vehicle. There were no visible injuries to the victim. The victim declined medical attention."
Commings' side of the story has yet to be aired in public. A Georgia team spokesman said he doesn't expect Commings or the team to have further comment, at least right now.
