Two tornadoes touched down in south Central Georgia during severe weather Saturday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

One house and two chicken houses were destroyed and a few other structures suffered roof damage in Macon County with an EF-1 tornado that reached speeds of up to 110 miles per hour after it hit the ground at about 3:45 p.m. Saturday.

Investigators determine the twister touched down along Ga. 128 north of Oglethorpe and strengthened as it headed toward Ga. 49 near Four Points.

The tornado's 200-yard wide path stretched 8.5 miles where at least two dozen trees were downed or snapped.

At about 4:15 p.m., a weaker twister touched down along Old National Road northwest of Pinehurst in Dooly County.

The tornado lifted and briefly touched down again along U.S. 41 near Taylor Road where several trees were uprooted.

Damage was sporadic as the twister skipped up and down across the 5.5 mile path.

A little more than a dozen trees and a utility pole were snapped.
