Byron City Council handles annual routine actions

BYRON -- The City Council approved routine annual agreements and appointments Monday at its first meeting of the year.

Councilman Michael Chidester was selected as mayor pro-tem, Councilmen Farrell Bass, James Richardson and Chidester were selected to serve on the Committee on Committees, which selects the boards for the year.

City Council also reappointed Ricky Smallwood, Robert “Bob” Griggers, Steve Humphry and Glenn Howell to serve on the Byron Development Authority.

Additionally, the council approved annual agreements for probation services and the Byron Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Also at Monday’s meeting, the council accepted a nearly $599,000 bid for work on the city sewer system to Pyles Plumbing & Utilities Contractors Inc.
