Can you hear that whistle blowing? Its comin round the bend at the Museum of Aviation at Robins Air Force Base.
The Middle Georgia Model Railroad Club will host its fourth annual Planes and Trains Exhibit beginning Saturday.
Its a great opportunity to show off our hobby and get people into it, said Ed Lusk, president of the Middle Georgia Model Railroad Club. Plus, kids really love to play with trains.
According to a news release, a large HO-scale train display will feature several train lines continuously running through landscape scenes with miniature buildings, cars, bridges, rivers, buildings and an airport. There will also be a large N-scale layout running, as well as O-scale Lionel, Thomas the Tank Engine and G-scale displays.
Kids of all ages will enjoy it. There are very realistic models, and models for kids like Thomas the Tank Engine, Lusk said.
Saturday and Sunday, in addition to the display, there will be exhibits by groups such as the Southeastern Railroad Museum and vendors with trains and train-related items available for purchase. There will even be train rides for the kids.
Its our fourth year and we want to make it the largest railroading event in Middle Georgia. We can do that through the courtesy of the Museum of Aviation providing us the space, Lusk said.
The event is free, and is open daily Saturday through Nov. 27, except Thanksgiving Day when the museum is closed.
