An East Dublin man was convicted of murder and other charges Tuesday after a trial in Johnson County Superior Court.

Demarcio Williams, 19, of 588 Ben Hall Lake Road, was convicted of malice murder, felony murder, two counts of aggravated assault and criminal attempt to commit a felony, according to a statement from District Attorney Craig Fraser’s office.

Williams was sentenced to life in prison without parole plus 20 years.

Evidence during the trial showed that on June 28, 2010, Williams and another person entered the home of the victim, James Akridge, with an intent to rob him. Williams had a firearm and forced the victim to get on him knees, ultimately shooting Akridge in the back. Akridge was able to call 911 for help, but he died in the ambulance.

Several witnesses testified at trial that Williams told them about robbing and killing Akridge.
