In what was an offense onslaught, the Morehouse College Maroon Tigers put on a clinic in their 56-12 beatdown of Fort Valley. Tigers rb David Carter set an SIAC record with 351 yards. Going in we knew Carter was good, but not this good. Carter is a good runner who runs low to the ground and with good pad level. Carter doesn't have breakaway speed but he can get the corner. The Morehouse defense played well also creating 5 turnovers. Nothing went right for FVSU the entire game and Head Coach Donald Pittman appears to be on his last legs. QB Antonio Henton just hasn't been what Wildcat fans envisioned when he transferred from Ohio State University. Juniot Christopher Slaughter has lived up to every bit of the hype and much more. This game marked the first time since 1990 that the Wildcats were beaten by both CAU and Morehouse in the same season.
The CAU Panthers have lost their last 6 games. Tuskegee beat the Panthers on the road 24-3. This game pretty much tells the story of the entire season for the Panthers. Defensively the Panthers look like a solid football team. Offensively, the Panthers look BAD to say the least. The Panthers weren't able to get anything going, and the defense was on the field for a long time. Tuskegee's leading rusher had 92 yards rushing, and threw for 114 yards. This is very much a down year for the Golden Tigers, but Clark needs to win to get some positive momentum going into next season.
The Albany State Rams took the field this past weekend to take on Benedict. The Rams took a 31 point lead at halftime of this game, and this turned into a snoozer. The Rams did whatever they wanted offensively, defensively, and on special teams. QB Stanley Jennings appeared to get into a much better groove in this game. The Rams have a stronhold on the SIAC Eastern Division Crown. All the Rams have to do at this point is win the last game vs. Crosstown Rival Fort Valley State.
The Savannah State Tigers played the best defensive game I've seen them play all season last week vs. Hampton. The Tigers led 5-3 in most of this game but couldn't hold in the 4th quarter. Offensively the Tigers are a mess from the O-line to Freshman QB Antonio Bostick, to the youthful wrs. One can see the talent that coach Davenport is assembling, but the Tigers are at least 2 years away.
Fort Valley State is without a doubt the most disappointing team in black college football. The Wildcats are unorganized, sluggish, and lack the discipline to get to the top of the conference. QB Antonio Henton hasn't been what anyone thought he would be at this point. However WR Chris Slaughter has NFL written all over him. Fort Valley get s shot at redemption this weekend in the Fountain City Classic.
Predictions
Stillman 24- Clark 7
Morehouse 31- Kentucky State 13
Albany State 20- Fort Valley 17
