Warner Robins student wins art contest
A Warner Robins elementary school student has won an art contest sponsored by Ready Georgia, the emergency preparedness campaign from the Georgia Emergency Management Agency.
As a part of September as National Preparedness Month, fifth-graders across the state submitted essays, artwork and videos reflecting the contest theme: Remember the Past, Get Ready for the Future.
Jordan Shealy, a fifth-grader at Parkwood Elementary School, placed third in the art contest, according to a news release.
Shealys art depicts a worried woman standing in front of a window showing stormy weather outside. The woman is on her phone.
Below the window, Shealy has written, To prepare for the unexpected, you need to call people on the phone to tell them about a disaster and to see if their (sic) okay.
