Albany State University- Gets the top spot this week after knocking of Morehouse 25-15. ASU Defense really stood tall in this game after creating 5 turnovers. Albany State now has control of its own destiny, and look to be the favorite to get to Atlanta for the first Annual SIAC Championship Game.
Morehouse College- This group squandared away numerous opportunities. Morehouse is a very fundamentally sound football team that plays hard week in week out. This week they beat themselves and they cannot allow this game to beat them twice. Morehouse is still in the Division II playoff hunt and represent the SIAC Eastern Division. Keep in mind that the Pioneer Bowl could also still be in play for the 'House. Morehouse will be favored to win the remaining games on the schedule, and they could very well see Albany State later on down the road.
Clark Atlanta University- CAU lost their 3rd straight game and they appear to be reeling. Defensively CAU is as good defensively as any team in the conference. This is a team that's offense is their achilles heel. Coach Mcneil has done an outstanding job at CAU and they are much improved from a year ago. The Panthers are very young and will be contender in the conference as early next year.
Savannah State University- The Tigers are coming off a 47-7 loss at the hands of the FAMU Rattlers. SSU doesn't have FCS caliber athletes at this time and its beginning to show in conference play. SSU is a team that doesn't really have an identity. They are rotating Qbs AJ Defillipis and Antonio Bostic. Bostic is young and has some upside, though Defillipis gives the Tigers the best chance to win now. Coach Davenport is changed the culture around the program. Many fans don't want to hear that and point to the scoreboard as evidence, but they have to understand the mess Davenport went into. The Tigers don't have it easy having stepped up in competition, but 2013 looks like the year they turn the corner. The Tigers have a bye to get ready for their Oct. 29 showdown with Hampton University which is the Tigers Homecoming.
Fort Valley State University- This season has been an absolute nightmare for the Wildcats. This is a group that has only won 1 game this season. Many thought FVSU would contend this season and at least have a chance at a winning record. WR Chris Slaughter looks like a real star, but nothing else about the Wildcats says contender. Based on what I've seen I believe the Wildcats are in rebuilding mode.
This Weeks Predictions
Morehouse 38 Bendict 14
Albany State 28 CAU 12
Stillman 27 FVSU 14
Savannah State- BYE
