A Virginia man died Tuesday morning, 10 days after suffering multiple injuries in an accident that killed three others in Jones County.

Jon Scharfenberger, 22, of Arlington, was pronounced dead at 10:20 a.m. at The Medical Center of Central Georgia, said Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones.

Scharfenberger was riding with Kortney Gordon, 28, of Annandale, Va., and two other colleagues on Eatonton Highway when Gordon's 2012 Ford Escape was hit head-on Oct. 8 on the way home from a conference.

Jones County investigators determined Quenby Means Jr., of Irmo, S.C., was trying to pass two cars in his 2004 Isuzu Axiom when he collided into Gordon's car at about 8:15 p.m.

Both drivers and Gordon's unborn baby died in the crash.

Gordon's other passengers - Leo Buckle, 21, of Columbia, S.C. and Ginny Stone, 26, of Durham, N.C. - remain hospitalized, said Jones County Investigator Kenny Allen.
