One Macon-Bibb County firefighter will lose his job for his role in a firehouse video that showed a masked man threatening firefighters.
One fire sergeant will be demoted to private, and four other firefighters will be suspended for 10 days without pay.
Those were among the punishments handed down by Fire Chief Marvin Riggins Wednesday after an investigation of the rookie prank video. Five of the seven firefighters involved were aware of the prank, and two were not.
According to a news release from the city, the following reprimands were handed down:
Firefighter Christopher Hughes will be suspended with pay for five days pending termination with a discharge review.
Sgt. Joshua Brewer will be demoted and he will be issued a 10 day suspension.
Firefighters Christopher Houston, Mark Swain and Jesse White will be issued a 10 day suspensions.
Captain Stephanie Burke will receive a two day suspension and
Lt. Timothy Pruitt will be issued a counseling statement as it relates to the management and behavior of his assigned personnel.
The punishments came three days after the video was posted online showing a masked man brandishing what looked like a gun inside a local fire station.
The video, posted on YouTube Sunday, showed the gunman leading one firefighter off screen, followed by a sound resembling a gunshot. Riggins said later that the sound was a firecracker.
A Bibb County Sheriffs Office investigation revealed that it no crime had been committed.
