ATHENS -- After undergoing neck surgery Monday, Georgia junior outfielder Jonathan Taylor will be transferred to the Shepherd Center in Atlanta later this week to continue his rehab.

The Shepherd Center is a private, non-profit hospital that specializes in spinal cord injuries. In a release, Georgia said Taylor’s surgery Monday at St. Mary’s Hospital in Athens was to stabilize his spine.

A website (www.caringbridge.org/visit/Johnathantaylor) has been set up for those who want to send Taylor messages and get updates.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to J.T., and his family during this difficult time,” Georgia head coach David Perno said in a statement. “J.T. is very tough, and that is going to help him during his recovery.”

Taylor was injured in an outfield collision during the third inning of Sunday’s game against No. 5 Florida State.
