A Byron man died Monday night after crashing his motorcycle on Vietnam Veterans Memorial Parkway in Warner Robins.

Jeffery Dwayne Melton, 46, was headed south near Watson Boulevard when he lost control in a curve and went off the road into a ditch, according to a news release from the Warner Robins Police Department.

Melton was thrown from the bike and died at the scene shortly before 7 p.m. while his passenger, 38-year-old Ellen Geneva Melton, was also hurt when she was knocked off the bike, the release stated.

She was taken to The Medical Center of Central Georgia with undisclosed injuries.
