Faces and places: Ham, Tate re-elected to Farm Bureau’s board

Jim Ham of Monroe County was recently re-elected to represent the Georgia Farm Bureau’s 5th District on the organization’s board of directors.

Ham, who raises cattle, timber and hay, has served on the Monroe County Farm Bureau board of directors for 18 years and is a past president of the organization. He is a past president of the Georgia Association of Conservation District Supervisors, has served on the Georgia Resource Conservation & Development Council executive board and as chairman of the board of the Water Stewards Inc.

Also, James Emory Tate of Denton was re-elected to a two-year term representing the Georgia Farm Bureau’s 6th District on its state board of directors.

Tate, who is a diversified row crop, cattle and hay farmer, is president of the Jeff Davis County Farm Bureau and has served as a GFB 6th District director since 1997. He has served on numerous state commodity advisory committees for Georgia Farm Bureau and represents the organization as a voting delegate to the American Farm Bureau Federation.

Ozburn joins Martin Snow

Samuel David Ozburn is an associate with the law firm of Martin Snow LLP. Ozburn is a 2006 graduate of Georgia Tech and received his Juris doctor degree from the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University in 2010. He will concentrate his practice in litigation with an emphasis on defense of medical malpractice.

Paul Davis Restoration names Langley as associate

Paul Davis Restoration of Central Georgia has named Ron Langley as an associate. Langley will be responsible for sales and management of emergency services including board ups, tarps, water extractions and mold remediation.

He also will oversee reconstruction projects caused by water, fire and smoke damage as well as structural clean up, contents and remodeling projects.

Langley was previously a property adjuster and arson investigator with Allstate Insurance Co. for 37 years.

He retired from Allstate in September 2010.

Paul Davis Restoration Inc. provides fire, water and mold damage restoration and reconstruction services for residential and commercial properties.

Gayton speaks in China

Dr. Johnny Gayton was recently invited back to China to present information at the International Symposium on Ocular Pharmacology and Therapeutics annual meeting.

The meeting was held in Macau, China, which is located about 40 miles from Hong Kong, where Gayton lectured two years ago.

After arriving in Macau, he discussed modern pharmaceuticals that are currently used to improve visual outcomes for patient care.

He lectured on “Preventing Macular Edema and Protecting the Ocular Surface During Cataract Surgery” and “Decreasing Pain and Improving Vision in PRK.” He also spoke about premium intraocular lenses used in cataract surgery and on laser treatments used to improve vision without glasses.

Gayton is owner and chief surgeon at Eyesight Associates in Warner Robins.

Wilson joins Macon law firm

J. Chase Wilson has joined the Macon law firm of Shaffer, Raymond & Dalton as an associate, where his areas of practice will include divorce, child custody and general family law. Wilson is a 2007 graduate of Emory University and a 2010 graduate of the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University.

As a third year law student, Wilson received the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers Award of Excellence for excelling in the study of family law.

Wilson has worked as a law clerk for the firm for the past two years.
