The July unemployment rate was down slightly from June in the metro Macon area and was unchanged in the Warner Robins area.
The preliminary unadjusted unemployment rate in metro Macon declined slightly to 10.2 percent in July, down from 10.4 percent in June, according to a news release from the Georgia Department of Labor. The jobless rate in metro Macon in July 2009 was 9.8 percent.
Meanwhile, the number of unemployed workers in the metro area decreased to 11,500, down by 167 workers, the release stated.
In the Warner Robins metro area, the preliminary unemployment rate was unchanged at 7.6 percent from June to July. The jobless rate in July 2009 was 7.2 percent. The number of unemployed workers in the Warner Robins area increased by 34 to 5,434, the release stated.
The statewide unemployment rate was 9.9 percent in July, down from a revised 10 percent in June.
