An active-duty military officer was killed Sunday night in a single-vehicle accident in Houston County.

Maj. Jeffrey Allen Martin, 41, of Kathleen, was apparently traveling too fast for conditions when he lost control of his 2009 Suzuki motorcycle northbound on Sandefur Road just north of Fairway Road and crashed at 6:31 p.m., Georgia State Patrol Cpl. Elbert Slappy said.

Martin was with the 116th Air Control Wing, said John Birdsong, a Robins Air Force Base spokesman.
