WARNER ROBINS - West Virginia (Barboursville) defeated Tennessee (Daniel Boone Little League) 8-3 in a Little League Softball Southeastern Region Tournament pool play game Friday.

West Virginia took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first when Abbie Tolbert singled, scoring Rylee Kurlin. In the bottom of the inning, Tennessee's Jaclyn Jenkins scored from second when West Virginia committed a throwing error on Lindsey Laughren's ground ball.

In the bottom of the third, Laughren hit a sharp ball to left that slipped through the fielder's legs. Two runs scored, giving Tennessee a 3-1 lead.

West Virginia regained the lead in the top of the fifth. Kurlin hit a line drive to right that was misplayed, which cleared the bases and put West Virginia up 4-3.

In the sixth, West Virginia's Jenna Marsh hit a two-run double, then came all the way from second on a single two batters later to put West Virginia up 7-3. Abbie Tolbert drove in another run for an 8-3 lead.

On Saturday, Tennessee (1-1) plays Florida (2-0) at 10 a.m. and West Virginia (1-1) plays Virginia (0-2) at 4 p.m.
