A new bowling center may be coming to north Bibb County.

A plan to build a 35,000-square-foot bowling center with a lounge at 6389 Zebulon Road is part of a conditional-use permit to allow revisions to a previously approved plan. The matter is on Monday’s agenda for the Macon-Bibb County Planning & Zoning Commission meeting. The property is across Zebulon Road from the entrance to Lake Wildwood and is behind Zaxby’s and CVS.

The revised site plan also includes an 8,000-square-foot restaurant and a three-story hotel, but more information about these projects was not included on the commission’s staff report.

The bowling center with 32 bowling lanes would operate 24-hours a day, seven days a week and would include rooms for private parties, arcade, a kitchen with eating area, lounge with alcohol consumed on premises and locker rooms, according to the staff report. The lounge/bar would operate noon-2 a.m., and the kitchen would offer food service 9 a.m.-midnight.

The current access road to the Ansley Village apartment complex would be redesigned to serve the bowling center and other proposed lots, the report stated. A landscaped buffer would be installed between the center and the apartments.

This is not the first bowling center proposed for north Bibb County.

In 2003, a planned expansion at Starcadia Entertainment Park included 16 bowling lanes. The expansion never took place, and the park was closed in January 2009. In 2008, a proposed bowling center at 4318 Sheraton Drive was approved by the zoning commission, but it was never developed.

The P&Z meeting begins at 1:30 p.m. at Macon City Hall, 700 Poplar St.
