Taylor Feeney, a senior at Perry High School, was crowned Miss Dogwood 2010 in the annual pageant held at Perry High School on Saturday.

The pageant, sponsored by the Perry High School cheerleaders, featured 74 girls competing for six titles.

For Feeney, it was not the first time she was crowned a Miss Dogwood. She is a former Pre-Teen and Teen Miss Dogwood.

Pageants have been good to Feeney, who said that along with scholarship money, she has learned interviewing skills. Those skills came in handy when she competed against 350 other students for a Presidential Scholarship — which pays complete tuition to Mercer University. Part of the process was a 15-minute interview.

“I could have been nervous, but I was completely comfortable,“ Taylor said of the interview at Mercer.

As Dogwood Queen, Taylor will reign over the Dogwood Festival, which will be held April 10-11 in Perry.

Along with Taylor, the other 2010 Miss Dogwood Queens are: Tiny Miss Dogwood MaCayla Moody, Little Miss Dogwood Sidney Street, Junior Miss Dogwood Madyson Kelly, Pre-Teen Miss Dogwood Julia Bell and Teen Miss Dogwood Heather Coy.
