An East Dublin man who was run over by his own tractor trailer is one of 10 people killed on Georgia's roads during the New Year's holiday weekend.

The Georgia State Patrol reports 475 people were hurt in 2, 116 accidents between 6 p.m. Thursday and midnight Sunday.

Troopers had anticipated 16 people would die and 1,004 would be hurt in 2,330 accidents during the 78-hour period.

Shortly before 2 p.m. Friday 54-year-old Jeffy Oliver Steinmann was trying to release the brakes on his Freightliner log truck when the rig rolled backwards and ran over him on Mead Road, according to a news release from the Macon Police Department.

Steinmann's death was the only fatal accident reported in the Middle Georgia region over the holiday weekend.
