Persistent rain closed several Dodge County roads Tuesday and closed public schools in four counties.

Schools were closed in Wheeler, Dodge, Treutlen and Telfair counties on Tuesday. Late Tuesday, Wheeler, Dodge and Treutlen officials said schools were expected to reopen today. Telfair County officials were not available for comment, although the school system’s Web site made no mention of school being cancelled today.

In Dodge County, heavy rains caused creeks to spill out of their banks.

In addition to Tom Pittman Road, which closed early Tuesday, the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office reported that Golden Road, Jim Pruett Road, Frank Brown Road and W.P.A. Road were closed, and there are other trouble spots across the county, said Capt. Tony Winborn in a news release.

Water was flowing over Airport Road at Bethlehem Baptist Church, Lester Saunders Road, Reedy Branch Road, Lake Destiny Road, Antioch Church Road and Jerry Farmer Road.

Work crews also found flooding conditions on Betty Lane, Leonard Jones Road, Benevolence Church Road, Lewis Harrell Road and Lower Rocky Springs Road.
