Elderly woman robbed by four juveniles

Published: December 13, 2009

A 75-year-old woman was robbed at gunpoint Sunday afternoon by four juveniles in south Macon, according to police.

Macon Police Chief Mike Burns said the crime happened about 4 p.m. on Hireland Terrace. The victim pulled into the driveway of a friend and when she was getting out of her vehicle she was approached by four males, one of whom had a small handgun.

The robbers pulled the victim out of her car, took her purse and fled behind a nearby church. Burns said a witness at the church saw the robbers run by. Police arrested two suspects Sunday and expected to get warrants for the other two, Burns said.

Their names are being withheld because of their juvenile status. The victim was not injured.
