A Lizella teenager has been indicted in connection with the Sept. 4 death of a man waiting for his brother outside a Bibb County convenience store, according to Bibb County Superior Court records.

Javone Malik Taylor, 17, of Columbus Road, is charged with felony murder, armed robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, according to the indictment.

Taylor is accused in the death of 26-year-old Jaymal Patel at the RaceWay gas station, 5127 Mercer University Drive.

Authorities have said Patel was dropped off at the gas station shortly after midnight so he could get a ride home with his brother who worked there.

Soon after the business closed and the outside lights were turned off, a man armed with a gun approached Patel and demanded money.

Patel gave the robber his empty wallet.

The robber demanded money again and then fatally shot Patel.

Taylor is being held at the Bibb County jail without bond, according to jail records.

Information from The Telegraph’s archives was included in this report.
