WARNER ROBINS - The Houston County Board of Education has extended its timeline for a decision on rezoning, superintendent David Carpenter announced during Thursday's public hearing at Warner Robins High School.

The board will now hear the final proposal during its January 12 meeting and vote two weeks later. The previous plan was to hearing the final proposal in December and vote during the January 12 meeting.

More than 300 turned out for Thursday's public hearing, during which school board members and employees answered questions regarding rezoning.

The rezoning is necessary due to the opening of Veterans High School in fall 2010.
