Question: Where were you raised?

Answer: In Cordele

Question: Why did you decide to open a bookstore?

Answer: My husband and I were interested in owning our own business. The bookstore idea clicked into place over dinner with my parents. The idea was brought up, and everyone loved it.

Question: What did you do prior to opening the bookstore?

Answer: I was in college. I had a variety of jobs, but mainly I just studied.

Question: What is your all-time favorite book?

Answer: “Little Women” by Louisa May Alcott

Question: Have you always enjoyed reading?

Answer: Yes. My parents always had a bunch of books around the house. My dad had a library.

Question: How long has Gottwals Books been around?

Answer: We’ve been open almost 2 1/2 years now. The Warner Robins location opened in March 2007, and the Byron location opened July 11 of this year.

Question: What do you do for fun when you are not working?

Answer: We’re very active with our church, and we like to hang out with our friends.

Question: Whom do you admire most? Why?

Answer: My parents, my husband’s parents and my husband. Our parents have always been encouraging and proud of us.

Question: Who makes up your family?

Answer: My husband, one dog, Parachute, and one cat, Blackie.

Question: What advice would you give to someone wanting to start a business?

Answer: To be smart, brave and to not be afraid of work. Do something that you can really be proud of and trust God.
