Macon woman dies after being struck by car

A Macon woman was killed Thursday night after stepping into the path of a car on Mercer University Drive.

Carolyn Rhodes, 49, of Georgia Avenue, was hit by a 2008 Lincoln MKZ at about 10:45 p.m. near the Georgia Department of Labor, said Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones.

Rhodes was pronounced dead at The Medical Center of Central Georgia at 11:17 p.m., Jones said. The Macon police department is investigating the accident.
