The charred remains discovered in the Jacksonville community last week belong to a Florida man.
Fingerprints taken during the autopsy matched Willie James Wilson, 33, of Orlando who had served time in federal prison, said Greg Harvey, special agent in charge of the Eastman office of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
"We have no reason to explain why he was where he was," Harvey said.
Wilson's badly burned body was found last Thursday at 3:30 p.m. outside a hunting lodge near Jacksonville in Telfair County.
Authorities in Florida are trying to determine how Wilson wound up in Georgia after he was last seen Feb. 25, the day before his body was discovered.
"They're doing some aggressive investigation," Harvey said.
